We have several different tour options available:
Oyster Farm & Tasting Tour
During the 1 hour tour, participants wade out into the water, taste fresh Pacific and native Angasi Oysters straight out of the water, and have a hands-on shucking lesson and shuck their very own oyster. They will also learn the history of Coffin Bay, and Oyster Farming Practices direct from the Oyster Farmer himself, Ben Catterall.
Seafood Tasting Tour
This tour is usually around dusk (4.00pm) and offers the opportunity to wade out into the water, sit on the floating ‘Salt Water Pavilion’, enjoy our beautiful sunset and order fabulously fresh seafood tasting plates from the menu. Try our famous Coffin Bay Oysters with a range of dressings, Tuna & Kingfish Sashimi, local Mussels, Spencer Gulf Prawns and local Abalone. You’re also able to enjoy this with a cold drink with Beer, Riesling, Bubbles, Sav Blanc & Rose options available on the drinks menu.
This tour is $20 to join + whatever you order from the menu. This tour is a more informal tour, where you can ask questions about the oyster farming practices or simply just enjoy the beautiful surroundings whilst grazing on our world famous oysters and Eyre Peninsula seafood at its best! The only tour of this type in the world!
This tour has a minimum of 5 people, and operates on selected dates. If you have a group enquiry and would like to do this tour please make direct contact to discuss date options.
Kayak Adventure & Oyster Farm Tasting Tour
Experience the pristine clear waters, pure fresh air and creamy salty taste of Coffin Bay Oysters, the best possible way, by Kayak! Sat 31March 1pm only.
A gentle Kayak/ paddle around a working commercial oyster lease, see the oyster racks and the oysters growing in their trays, and learn about the traditional farming methods of our famous Coffin Bay Oysters.
After a gentle paddle around the oyster lease, we will move to the ‘Salt Water Pavilion’ to taste our famous Coffin Bay Oysters and the Native Angasi Oyster, only moments after being plucked straight out of the sea! This will include a tasting of 10 oysters in total, matched with a glass of SA Riesling. Youll also have a shucking masterclass where you will learn to shuck your very own oysters!
An up-close and personal experience with the Oyster Farmer himself, and a once-in-a-lifetime culinary adventure!

Wade out into a working Oyster Farm, sit in the water on our Salt Water Pavilion, and taste the freshest Coffin Bay Oysters youll ever have the opportunity to experience. The tour guide is an experienced and commercial Oyster Farmer, who will share information on oyster farming practices, the history of Coffin Bay, and best of all taste both Pacific and our local native Angasi Oysters. Learn how to shuck your very own oysters. During the tour youll enjoy a tasting of 4 oysters as well as an additional half dozen oysters per person as part of this special package.
At the conclusion of the tour, and as part of this special package, enjoy a seafood platter to share with your family & friends at the Beachcomber Cafe, along with a glass of wine. The seafood share plate includes a selection of our famous Eyre Peninsula Seafood of Spencer Gulf Prawns, Abalone, Mussels, Crab, Kingfish, and of course more Coffin Bay Oysters.
Please note: The tours are subject to tide conditions. If the weather is too rough, we will advise within 24 hours. We suggest you wear comfortable clothing and the waders provided, will protect you from getting wet. Tours book out quickly during peak season, so we recommend you book at least 24 – 48 hours in advance to avoid missing out.
